Windows Slow Startup – Easy Solutions That Work
Windows slow startup is often a good indicator that something is wrong in your computer and that you should start worrying. There are plenty of things that can slow down the start up of your computer. The good news is there are also a lot of solutions available. Below are just two of them:
Your system is congested with too many programs and applications and it runs many of these during start up – When your pc was born, so to speak, there was nothing in it except for the tools, programs and applications you need to make it run, that is why it was extremely fast. A year into using your pc – with continuous creation and deletion of files, programs and applications – your system's disk starts to fill. Eventually, it will start to become clogged and lose much of it original disk space.
The point is, there are programs that are specifically configured to create a directory in the startup folder, these ultimately use up your computer's resources during booting. When they automatically crawl into your Windows Startup system – this can only be accessed through the MSCONFIG tool – and add themselves to the number of programs launched whenever you turn your computer on, your machine automatically slows down.
The solution to this is easy – remove all the non-essential programs in the Startup folder to speed up the boot up process. This, you can easily do by accessing the MSCONFIG tool. On Windows XP, click START then go to RUN. A box will then appear and in there type "msconfig' without the quotation marks. The procedure is almost similar with other Windows OS like Windows Vista. The only dissimilarity is that there is no need to select the RUN tool. After hitting START, type the MSCONFIG command in the search tab.
Go to the Startup tab and check the programs listed. This list shows the programs and applications that your computer loads during startup. What you want to do is to disable anything that is unessential in that section and leave the essential programs checked. After this, click the OK button and hit RESTART.
Now, you will want to be very careful when changing anything in this tab. If you don’t know what a particular program does, don’t change its status.
Failures and errors in your hard drive – There are plenty of funny things that can lead to hard drive failure. Fragmented hard disk, lack of free disk space, and malware like adware and virus are just some of the common ones. All these can cause your pc to slow down significantly.
Individual fixes can be made to resolve hard drive failure. For this issue, an efficient solution is defragmentation. Defragmentation is a component of the Windows utility tools that organizes and fixes hard disk errors. For limited free disk, you can free up disk space. Deleting files, programs and applications that you are not using can free up plenty of disk space . Do this only however if you are familiar with the program. If not, Google it or leave the program on. If your problem is malware, run a scan and remove it using a malware removal software program.
In general, these solutions to Windows slow startup are easy to do .

OCZ's latest solid-state drive, the Octane, is a new breed among its peers.
The drive is the first to be powered by OCZ's new Indilinx Everest controller,
designed to optimize boot time and application performance. And the Octane
offered just that in my testing, helping the test machine take just 12 seconds
to boot up. That's the shortest boot time I've seen from any SSD, although by
only a second or two.
The drive is clearly better than other SATA3-based SSDs, however, in its
capacity and value. It's available with up to 1TB of storage, which is the
same as a current high-end 2.5-inch laptop hard drive of the same standard and
9-millimeter thickness. For the first time, SSDs can no longer be considered
limited in terms of storage space.
While it's unclear how much the 1TB version costs, the Octane's other
capacities, ranging from 120GB to 512GB, are noticeably more affordable than
other SSDs of the same sizes. The sweet-spot 256GB version, for example, costs
just $1.45 per gigabyte. Other SSDs of the same standard and capacity cost
$1.75 per gigabyte or more.
