Sony has always had a nice selection of computers, and adding the prestigious Vaio EC (economy class) series to their lineup was a good move that now allows people with less money to spend to buy their own notebook computer. This series of notebook computers features a full-sized keyboard and monitor. It also gives you a good array of software programs, including Windows 7 Home Premium, as well as several very useful ports. If you are looking for simplicity, combined with capability, the Sony Vaio EC Notebook is the computer for you. If you're looking for something that looks very professional, choose either the silver or black model. In this day and age of modern techie devices, this laptop does not conform with the current trend of brighter is better. Useful for typing documents and surfing the web with a much larger screen, this product will provide a nice merger between modern units such as the iPad which do not have keyboard capability. Personal computer aficionados will absolutely love this portable notebook because of its similar capabilities. A couple of the features that the Vaio EC Notebook has are number pad on the right and a chiclet keyboard. One accessory that does come with this Sony notebook is a rubber cover or skin that fits tightly over the keyboard to preserve it for many years of use. Keyboarding with this computer is actually very similar to a standard size keyboard which makes it very convenient to use on the go. A standard touchpad resides below the keyboard so that you can quickly and easily surf the web and access everything as you normally would with the mouse. This is standard for all laptops that use a touchpad instead of a mouse. The Vaio EC is very user-friendly despite the small differences in regard to the touchpad and the keyboard.
Despite all of its qualities, the large screen size may seem like a benefit, but it is also detrimental to the overall package. If you are looking for a notebook computer that is extremely portable and light, you will more than likely find its size inconvenient. Trying to put this particular notebook in a laptop case might not actually work.
All of the functionality that this computer has can be lost in hindsight when you start realizing how bulky and difficult it is to take with you. Due to its size, you may want to leave it either at the office or at home. If you can deal with less functionality, you might be better off with a smaller version that is easier to bring with you. Generally speaking, you would have to really search to find any annoying flaws in Sony's Vaio EC Notebooks. All the main attributes you look for in a notebook PC are present. In fact, there are even features included that other comparable notebook PCs don't have. And if you're looking for a top-of-the-line manufacturer and product, then buying a Sony Vaio EC for a somewhat higher price is a good decision.
