If I used someone's vista recovery boot cd to correct the "configuring updates 3 of 3 -- 0%" loop, will this harm my touchscreen capabilities? (my laptop is an HP-TX2500, Touchscreen, swivel screen model, OS is Vista....version unknown). The other person's vista recovery boot cd belongs to a DELL XPS PP28L (LCD SCREEN), and the OS for this laptop is Vista, 32bit version. they both run on vista.
DOES IT MATTER THAT THE OTHER LAPTOP IS A DELL vs. my HP?
Does it matter what version of Vista i use?
I have tried the LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION
and I tried taking the battery out.
neither two has helped. Unfortunately my laptop didnt come with the original VISTA RECOVERY BOOT CD.
so, until i can afford to buy the authentic disc from HP, i am in need of a quick, SAFE, fix for the time being, without harming or permanently disabling any special functions like touchscreen capability, or any key functions specific to my laptop!

Using a different recovery disk might work in a few cases,but I very much doubt it in your case.
When you buy a computer you also buy a version of the operating system software, in your case Vista.
You have to be supplied a method of recovery. In your case it is a recovery partition on the Hard Disk.
Also from this partition you should be able to create recovery CD/DVD disks.
